With its iconic structures, towering backdrop, and cultural heritage, the City of Sydney CBD redevelopment prioritised the need to maintain its vibrancy and attractiveness whilst creating safer spaces for everyone.

Alexander James & Partners were appointed as the City of Sydney’s Safer Cities Security and Risk Consultants for the CBD redevelopment and major events - delivering effective crowded places security and risk management strategies for Light Rail and pedestrian precinct integration, including the development of safety and security planning processes for the City’s major events - New Years Eve / Vivid.

Our approach to providing authoritative safer cities security and crowded places strategies and advice was underpinned by the City of Sydney’s values towards cultural and social integration.

AJP provided both innovative and recognised good practice crowded places and counterterrorism security advice across key CBD precincts and venues, including Martin Place precinct, George Street, QV Building, Town Hall, Circular Quay, Hyde Park, and St Mary’s Cathedral precinct.

Our approach to delivering sustainable crowded places safety and security considered emerging security technologies; shifts in patterns of behaviour; and the broader social, economic and environmental factors that can impact community safety and security.
